The Samaveda Samhita, that is, the most ancient layer of text of the Samaveda (“the Veda of song”), has had since antiquity a special relation to the music of the cosmos, what in the Western tradition eventually came to be called the “music of the spheres”, or in Latin, musica mundana. The Samaveda Samhita is not meant to be read as a text, but sung, as it is like a musical score sheet that must be heard.
