The “Dream” of Edward Johnston

You may be familiar with the old adage that “to work is to pray”, a saying which gives some indication of the fact that the crafts were traditionally practiced as if it were possible that they possessed a spiritual dimension and that they might act as a support for contemplation. I believe the writings of Edward Johnston indicate that he exercised his vocation as if this was still a possibility.
