Ibn ‘Arabi, the Greatest Shaykh, teaches us, “When you are in the standing position during prayer, you earn the rewards of all the trees and walls of the earth, because their state is also that of prayer – this is the connection; when you bend forward, you earn the rewards of all four-legged animals, and when you prostrate, you earn the rewards of all crawling animals, plants and herbs. The meaning of their worship manifests in you, and you acquire all their rewards. Mind you, we gain all this during prayer.” This is the attribute of Mercy. Everything worships, and everything is attracted to God. To comprehend the meaning of God, that is called witnessing.
