Sura Ya-Sin (chapter 36 of the Qur’an) was called by the Prophet the “Heart of the Qur’an”, and its recitation accompanies all significant occasions in the life of Muslims, from births to any troubled or joyful events through to funeral rites. It is often learnt by heart and is not seldom part of the awrad or litanies of Sufi turuq.
• Recitation by Abdul Basit, with thanks to Quran Central. This is a slow recitation. Long pauses. This is an immersion in the Qur’anic state of mind. Brace up.
• Recitation by Abd Allah Basfar, with thanks to QuranicAudio.com. This recitation is sprightly, good for lighter hearing occasions and for memorization.
